Baby’s First Christmas Stocking Gift

Posted by: Alex | Comments (1)

When you are on the hunt for your baby’s first Christmas stocking you will probably find a ton of options. Choosing a baby stocking that is a real keepsake is a little more challenging. In order to make sure that you invest in the right item for your baby’s first Christmas stocking try a little browsing before buying.

The excitement of having a new baby is overwhelming and we may feel a compulsion to purchase the intitial baby’s first Chrsitmas stocking that passes our vision. However, you do want to keep this for your child in future years. Putting some consideration into such a keepsake is always a good idea.

Many new mothers like to put a lot of time and effort into creating a keepsake for their child’s collection. Most of these moms will crochet a blue or pink baby’s first Christmas stocking for the special commemorative holiday. The colors do not have to be pastel, either. You can choose different shades that reflect the holiday season as well.

I would love to be one of those moms but I have trouble tying my shoes let alone crocheting a baby’s first Christmas stocking. Some of us may have the good intentions but we are really doing everyone a big favor if we buy the finished product outright.

I found lovely baby’s first Christmas stockings online. Music is very important in my home and I was thrilled to find musical Christmas stockings that can be used as keepsakes for the special holiday. There were three of these options available. The trouble was choosing just one.

One of the items featured a snowman and played the song “Frosty the Snowman” and another featured a reindeer and played “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer”. The third featured Santa and played “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”

I loved each one of these but I thought about it for awhile and figured that I wasn’t really that crazy about the song choices or the images. They just didn’t appeal to my sensibilities when it comes to my baby’s first Christmas stocking.

I found that getting a personalized item was the right choice for me. The baby’s first Christmas stocking is timeless because I chose a traditional red and white-fur stocking for the project. The personalized stocking is perfect because it is my baby’s first Christmas stocking. His name is an important part of the keepsake.

A Baby Sling Works Well For Moms & Dads

Posted by: Alex | Comments (0)

A baby sling is one of the coziest ways for a mother to carry her baby close to her body and have her hands free. It is suitable for a newborn, a larger baby, and even a toddler because it can be adapted to different holding styles. A baby sling is essentially a long, oblong piece of cloth with a fastening method such as a buckle, clasp or knot, at the top. It often has padding around the edges of the cloth to cushion the baby snugly.

Baby slings can be worn with an infant asleep in a laying down position inside, or be adjusted for the baby to be reclining to nurse. A baby may even be placed inside in a supported sitting position so he can look around.

A baby sling can be modified to hold the older baby straddled on the hip, or even adjusted to be worn supporting the baby on the back. The simple cloth is very versatile!

A variation on a baby sling, called a baby pouch, is a handy modification that is more like a big pocket that the baby can be fit into that holds the baby snugly against the mother’s chest. Babies can ride in reclining or sitting positions in a pouch, as in a sling. Pouches are made of many elastic-like materials, so that they are easy to slide the baby into when stretched, yet snap back into shape to hold the baby tightly to the mother. Some are made of breathable fleece to keep the baby warm when the mom and baby are out and about. Other lightweight material pouches are also available.

Baby slings can be made of many different kind of materials, patterns and sizes. Many women make them homemade and sell them on ebay. You will readily find many different baby sling sellers on the internet. Prices range from about $30 to $70 depending on the material and the seller.

What’s nice about a baby sling, as opposed to a baby carrier such as Baby Bjorn, is that it can be adjusted to hold the baby in reclining positions for sleeping or nursing. The baby carrier can only hold the baby upright facing front or facing the mother.

Whatever carrier a mother chooses, a baby carrier is an essential helper for a mother. Having hands free while holding the baby is very freeing for the mother. The baby sleeps peacefully in there, or rests happily, because mom’s warm, familiar body and heartbeat are close by and soothing. Being in a baby sling is also a natural position for the baby, as newborns and infants like to be swaddled. A sling holds the baby in a swaddled position, so the baby while the baby is snuggled in the sling, he is able to feel the familiarity of being snuggled in the womb.

Baby slings are the most versatile and useful things for a mom to have. They are especially great for moms who are caring for older children, as the mom can have her hands free to help the older child while holding the baby.

The holiday season is a time for children and it’s especially exciting for families who are celebrating baby’s first Christmas. There are traditional and not so traditional presents available for the youngest member of the household. Many of these baby Christmas gift items will be treasured for years to come. Of course, babies have been known to be more fascinated by the wrapping paper!

Simple toys are always appreciated, such as ring games, building blocks, bath toys or rattles. Sqeezy balls or anything that whistles, rings a bell or otherwise makes a noise will keep baby entertained whilst Mom and Dad cook the Christmas dinner. After an exciting day, it may take baby a while to settle down and go to sleep. A mobile above the cot might do the trick, especially one that plays a soothing lullaby. A music box is another musical idea.

Some items can be personalized with a message or the baby’s name. There are My First Christmas Baby Blankets available in addition to teddy bears wearing T-shirts with Father Christmas printed on. Some teddy bears sing a song or play a tune. A Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer is another themed baby Christmas gift.

My First Christmas Keepsake boxes are great for storing cards and other family mementoes. There are also boxes to keep baby’s first hair curl or tooth. Baby can have his or her own stocking with their name on it. Pewter mugs and breakfast and dinner crockery sets are popular too. Sterling silver keepsake spoons or photograph albums or photograph frames are another baby Christmas gift idea. Relatives or friends may want to buy baby a bible or scripture book.

Some more unconventional presents are gaining in popularity. These are not ones that baby can unwrap but they do last a lifetime. For a memorable baby Christmas gift, there are companies that sell an acre of land on the moon or Venus. The gift contains a deed certificate and a property map showing the location of the land and detailing the mineral rights. In similar fashion, it is possible to name a star in honor of the new arrival. This comes with a presentation box, containing a certificate with the star’s name, a sky chart and a star plotter. For a more down to earth present, there is a dedicate a tree gift pack and baby helps conservation by having a tree planted in his or her name.
